Black Opal Earrings: Australian Lightning Ridge Opals, Handmade Jewelry
Details
1.29 carat total pair of natural fine Lightening Ridge black opals Black opal is the most precious type of opal and is characterized by a dark grey or deep black base displaying colors and hues that can be incredibly bright and intense, even electric. The Lightning Ridge mines in New South Wales, Australia are the main source of this incredibly precious, rare and highly sought-after type of opal. This opal split almost directly down the center while moving from New York to Philadelphia by hand with a gem dealer. When I opened the parcel to find the twins, we had them re- cut and polished , yielding two beautifully matched twins. The 2016 American Gem Trade Awards winning necklace shown in the second photo, (which we had nothing to do with other than to stand in awe and admire it ) looks like family members of these twins. I see beautiful dangles about 1.25 to 1.5" inches long with a very small diamond frame around each of the opals like the award winner ( .35 carat Tw. approx. fine F/G color, VS2 to SI1 clarity range) very similar to the last photo with a secure lever back clasp in 14K white gold. (Cant lose the back off of a lever-back! If you would rather keep it simple, no diamonds, just dangle...or simple studs, send ius a message we are game. The peacock idea with a little Persian flair is one I have yet to make but would absolutely love to! Do you have 2 daughters? I am very happy to work with your ideas and create something just for you. Just message me. I'm open to creating something you see differently and will come up with a listing for you if you like. I would love to create moons! Separating the twins, while a painful thought, is not off the table. A single moon with a little pretty metal-smithing around it in 14K white or yellow gold I would do for $1195 We could easily design a couples pair with the two moons that could be worn by either sex... Think Once in a blue moon amazing love is found...You light up my life, the light of my nights. mush heaven. Maybe a very brilliant pastel yellow sapphire ( the sun) flanked by the blue moons with very small stars ( diamond stars...) just below at the 3:00 and 9:00 positions.
